Seersucker Bubble Dress

Seersucker Bubble Dress.
"Skip through a meadow, enjoy a picnic on a pretty gingham blanket, take a stroll on a charming cobble-stoned street...in this dress*."

Just now added back to the shop, this is the among the last I'll offer up this summer as I'm going to start focusing on my fall/winter designs.

*I don't think I'll ever stop offering my signature summer dress. The first version I ever created was part of a collection I designed - Mexican folklorico was one of my inspirations - in my first year of fashion school and it walked loud and proud down the runway at the end of the year show. Someday, I'll show you the original. (Still have it around here somewhere. Can't let go of it.)

Promenade in French cotton & lace

Promenade in French cotton & lace
...has been put back in the shop! And it's the very last one in stock. Crisp and light, it's perfect for those hot summer days when all you want to do is spend your time drinking lemonade and taking a romantic promenade through a pretty park.

Get it here in my Etsy shop.

The Seersucker Bubble Dress in Red is baaaaaaack

Sunny days, fresh fruit from the outdoor market and lots of ice cream. That's what I think of with my striped seersucker dresses, like this one. Lightweight and slightly textured, seersucker is the thing to wear while traveling or enjoying summer days. And I love the thick red on white stripes! (Woven, so the pattern is reversible.) They remind me of the stripes in fashion during the late 18th century. (You've probably noticed by now that historical clothing rocks my socks.)

This red on white number is the last one in stock. Get it here in my Etsy shop!

Linen Bustier Dress in Candy Pink

Just relisted this sweet little number in my Etsy shop! 100% French linen in a beautiful color that looks like something out of a delish French patisserie.

Know what else? I really heart pink.

Latest clothing additions to the shop:

thumb190_mariegreenishgray.jpgthumb190_montmartre.jpg thumb190_pinstripe.jpg

Some designs updated in the latest fabrics and colors for this season! All natural, either linen or cotton (or both). Simple, clean and functional with design elements that take them all beyond your average ready-to-wear. As I've mentioned before, I don't keep big bolts or tubes of of fabric lined up in my studio so all these pieces are handmade to order in very small series, which I like to think makes them all a little more special for you.

bubble_beigestripe

Seersucker Bubble Dress, updated in beige on white woven stripes. Hangs below the knee so it can be worn on its own, but versatile enough to be layered over jeans or pants. If you'd like to give it the impression that it's shorter, pull up the hem to create a "pouf" effect.

marie_khaki

Marie Linen Bubble Tunic in a very special woodland forest green. There are only two of these in existence! One has already been sold. There is one more in the shop and it's probably the last as I don't think that I'll be able to find this particular shade of linen again.

bustier_lightkhaki

Linen Bustier Tunic in a very special shade of pale greenish gray. Perfect for those trips to the beach or lovely little summer picnics. Wear it with the tie in order to keep it "secure" and in its place. Can be worn many ways, but I think that my favorite is with a pair of distressed denim shorts. P.S. Don't miss the lace detail at the hem - very French country, which is the feel that inspired me in my collection this year.

marie_greenishgray

Marie Linen Dress updated in an earthy color, perfect for spring, summer and all the way through fall. It's a special shade, a medium gray with just the right amount of green in it. It's a very short dress, so if it's worn alone I do recommend a slip underneath. But again, my favorite is layered over shorts or pants. I like to bike around a lot, so that's usually how I wear my tunics or dresses.

montmartre_indigo_gray

Montmartre Linen Dress in a GORGEOUS shade of deep bluish gray, I like to think of it as "midnight". It reflects the light beautifully and has a lovely matte polish to it, which makes it go from casual to dressy very easily.

bubble_pinstripe

Pinstripe Bubble Tunic - bordering on mini dress length. 100% cotton shirting with a woven blue on white pinstripe and sweet cotton lace detail at the straps. Another romantic and French country-inspired piece.

New pieces coming this summer, and they will be brand spanking new and never before seen in my shop. (Pssst.....a small peek at one of them can be had in my croquis.)

Latest clothing additions to the shop:

thumb190_madeleine.jpgthumb190_collette.jpg thumb190_deauville.jpg

madeleine2

Madeleine Long Shirt: This one is fresh off the drafting table! A long shirt with mandarin collar and three quarter sleeves. Relaxed, with a hint of French country. {Can you pick it out from these rough sketches?} 100% cotton, lightweight with beautiful detailing.

collette

Colette: This is a modified version of my Montsouris dress, shortened to a tunic and made in linen/cotton in sand, a big color this season. Clean and simple with a neck detail that makes everyone's neck look pretty.

deauville2

Deauville Tunic: Linen and cotton with ruffle trim in cotton voile. Wear it over a skirt for pure romanticism, edge it out with skinny trousers and a belt or with a pair of boyfriend jeans for a beachy, relaxed look.

Seersucker Bubble Dress in Red and White

Ah, the middle of summer. Sunny days, fresh fruit from the outdoor market and (of course) lots of ice cream. That's what I think of every time I pull another one of these dresses off the sewing machine. It's lightweight, slightly textured and crinkled (seersucker is the thing to wear while traveling, lemme tell ya) with sweet ruffly straps, smocked back, lightly structured bubble hem, and a belt for the days when you want some curves. And I love the thick red on white stripes! (Woven, so they show on the inside of the garment, btw.) They remind me of the stripes that came into fashion during the late 18th century. (You've probably noticed by now that historical clothing rocks my socks.)

This little number is now up in my etsy shop and available in sizes XS-L (measurements in the listing). Very limited edition!

Ice Cream, You Scream,

We all scream for ice cream colors! Especially in summer.

Summer always brings back childhood memories of selling lemonade, bike rides, reading Beverly Cleary books, and the ice cream truck coming through my sunny SoCal neighborhood (at which point I would run into the house like I had a jet pack strapped to my back while screeching at about 200 decibels "MOOOOOOOM! The ice cream man is coming!!! We need moneeeeeeeey!!!"). No summer was ever complete without pastel colored ice cream and - if there was money left over - a pack of Charlie's Angels bubble gum cards.

And now that I'm all grown up, I'm making clothes and bags in ice cream colors for the summer.

Pink and white striped sundress with frilly straps and belt in super lightweight cotton seersucker. Lined in light-as-air cotton, above the knee and partly smocked in the back so it's fitted on top. Handmade to order in sizes XS to M. Very limited edition (in other words, when my limited quantity of striped pink and white seersucker runs out!).

Another Soft French Lace Tote, because I can't get enough of these and if you look through my past collections you'll see that I've always added lace embellishments to the things I make. I love the tote in this particular color. It reminds me of key lime pie, or lime sherbet. The lining is a different shade but similar in color. Together they look like a pastel-colored bonbon.

Seersucker Bubble Dress in Plaid!

Fresh off the sewing machine:
Seersucker Bubble Dress in Plaid.
Remember the poll where you got a chance to vote on the print I'd be using for my next seersucker bubble dress? VoilĂ ! This is the one that won. Fresh off the sewing machine and already up in my etsy shop, it's ready to ship in size S-M. It's the only one available due the limited amount I had of this fabric, so don't wait too long if you'd like to own it. I love how the plaid looks in this dress! As one of my lovely buyers said, "it makes me think of tall glasses of lemonade on a big front porch and a lazy summer afternoon." Thank you for the perfect imagery, Kristina!

seersucker_plaid_modelled.jpg

If you had your heart set on any of the other prints in the voter poll I've got two on the sewing machine right now. Those will be handmade to order so you'll be able to pick your size. Photos very soon, so stay tuned to see which ones they are!

Promenade in Summer Plaid

Promenade in Summer Plaid, available in my Etsy shop.
Yep, still on my picnic kick! Every weekend Mr Le Hubby, Captain Destructo and I have been biking in and around the city of Lyon. During these excursions we always stop at a grassy area for a picnic before we head back home. These outdoor escapades and my inspiration in 19th century impressionists and pre-raphaelites for this season have got me making tunics in plaid, gingham and lace-embroidered cottons. The last Promenade in brown plaid I made was quite a success, and that makes me happy! Thanks to those who have supported my work by purchasing one. Now that the brown print has been used up I've pulled out the green print, which is perfect for all those summer outdoor excursions. It'll be available in both my shops, but right now you can find it at Etsy.
