More feathers you can shake a stick at, scalloped motifs, fringed edges, tulle layering and an umbrella like a great big hat.

Wild Target

A charming movie with likable characters and some funny scenes, but what I really couldn't peel my eyes away from were the outfits worn by Emily Blunt's character, put together by costume designer Sheena Napier. Real effortless style and accessorizing with a touch of hard rock glam softened up by her natural makeup and slightly tousled hair. Even her luggage was sublime. Love, love, love.

A beret gives instant glamour and it suits everyone. A slouch beret adds a touch of urban style.

Vintage style: Françoise Hardy

Françoise Hardy, French singer, actress & icon.

A trench coat* is a must. Good hair is a plus. Flattering glasses and a camera are icing on the cake.

*While in my second year of fashion school we had to dedicate a 4-6 week long project on the trench coat alone. That's how important this garment is, peoples. In design and illustration we had to create a collection of what I remember to be 8 or 9 (or was it 10?) full looks, each with a different trench coat and complete with design samples, creatively researched and designed inspiration board, flats in illustrator, and fully colored fashion illustrations. At the same time in tailoring and clothing construction we had to make one of the trench coats from our collection using special fabric provided by a textiles company. During all of this a fellow student declared (rather proudly, I might add) that she "didn't like trench coats". Clutch the pearls! Everybody should have at least one trench coat in their wardrobe whether they like it or not. For serious.

Black Swan costumes by Rodarte

For the fan of the tutu: The utter fabulousness that is the costumes designed by the Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte for Black Swan. Utterly romantic and worthy of a fairytale. [Remember my post with images from French Vogue Enfants? Tutus galore.]

Poetic beauty.

Fact: While on my honeymoon I stood in line for over an hour at the Uffizi in Florence just to slap my eyes on Sandro Botticelli's Birth of Venus in person, because it really isn't the same if you just see it in a book.
